      PSG vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

This has been a big summer at Paris Saint Germain, and new manager Thomas Tuchel leads his players into their final preseason clash on Monday. The French champions meet Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Monday, ahead of the French Super Cup meeting with Monaco on Saturday. Will PSG wrap up their International Champions Cup campaign with a victory over Atletico this week, or can the Europa League winners add to a tough run of form for the French outfit?

The downside to PSG’s impressive array of talent is that most of them were quite busy in Russia this summer. They are obviously without World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, while Edinson Cavani and Neymar also had runs to the quarters of the World Cup, which has left them a bit light during their summer matches. That’s been seen in their results so far, after a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich and a 5-1 hammering at the hands of former boss Unai Emery and Arsenal. That’s not the ideal way for them to warm up for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s first friendly of the summer saw them draw 1-1 with Arsenal, before winning on penalties. They will expect a strong display against a PSG side who are lacking in stars and experience. Atletico’s structured approach means Diego Simeone can fit players in to the side much easier than new PSG boss Tuchel. However, the French champions will be boosted by a few returning players this week, with Angel Di Maria expected to feature. With a boosted attack, this glamour friendly could be a really entertaining game.

Atletico Madrid should expect goals against a defence who have conceded eight across two friendly matches this summer. Meanwhile, the French champions will be expected to improve on their opening two games of preseason. With that in mind, we think goals are likely here. Over 2.5 seems really well priced given how open PSG have been so far, so we’re backing an entertaining match.

This isn’t a competition which PSG have really excelled in. They’ve lost four straight games in the International Champions Cup following their hammering at the hands of Arsenal. The Parisians did score in all of those, but they were ultimately beaten by the likes of Tottenham and Juventus. We expect Atletico to join that list, so we’re backing the Spanish side to win with both teams scoring, while we’re going for a 2-1 victory for Simeone’s men.
