PSV Reserves vs Cambuur Leeuwarden Predictions

It’s been a brilliant few weeks for Dennis Haar’s Jong PSV, who bagged their third win in four on match day 16 with an emphatic 5-1 success over promotion chasers Go Ahead Eagles. Haar’s side have the chance to climb up to 6th in the Eerste Divisie table this Monday night when they take on Cambuur at De Herdgang, and the hosts are fancied to land the spoils against the Leeuwarden outfit, who are now winless in four following a 1-3 loss to Jong’s city rivals FC Eindhoven last Friday.

Cody Gakpo was the star of the show for Jong PSV last week – the 19 year-old bagged a wonderful hat-trick to lead his side to their biggest win of the season so far, and in turn placed a significant dent in Go Ahead’s challenge for automatic promotion.

It was Jong’s fifth success of the campaign from eight outings at De Herdgang, and Dennis Haar’s men are becoming an increasingly tough nut to crack in Eindhoven, with leaders Den Bosch the only side to earn three points there this season.

And after three wins and a draw from their last four games overall, Jong are now leading the race to finish highest of the four reserve teams in Eerste Divisie this term.  A victory over Cambuur this Monday would see Dennis Haar’s men jump up to 6th in the standings, putting them four points clear of 9th placed rivals Jong Ajax, who of course landed the second division title last term.

The hosts are favourites to oblige here at around the evens mark, and prices look fair based on their current form, consistency at home and Cambuur’s recent woes.

Rene Hake’s side had a great start to the season with four wins and two draws secured from their first half dozen games, but they’ve since tailed right off having won just two of their last ten league fixtures.

A 1-3 home defeat to 16th placed FC Eindhoven last week arguably marked their worst display of the campaign to date, and the Leeuwarden outfit have now been shuffled down to 12th in the standings after failing to win any of their last four.

Cambuur’s form on the road has been dreadful with just one win gained and four defeats suffered from eight outings, and there’s little overall to suggest that they can make much of an impact here on match day 17.

Last season’s corresponding fixture was a closely fought 1-1 draw, but we’re behind Jong PSV to come out best in this one as they’re a team currently full of confidence and playing great football. In the correct score market, we’re also going for a 3-1 score line in favour of the hosts.
