Queen Of The South vs Dundee Predictions
Dundee will travel to Dumfries on Friday where they’ll be hosted by a struggling Queen of the South team at Palmerston Park. Can the Dee get back to their winning ways?
After what was already a shaky start to the season Queen of the South went back to their losing ways over the weekend as they suffered a fresh defeat at the hands of Inverness CT. The Doonhamers’ hosts needed 20 minutes to score both goals to seal 3 points in what was an otherwise uneventful game.
Queens got their season started with a couple of draws with Arbroath and Dunfermline Athletic. However, since then Allan Johnston’s side has lost 4 of their next 5 games, leaving them in dire straits as the season progresses, although they could use their only win of the season to build towards better results.
Dundee’s form has taken a turn for the worse in the last few weeks under the guidance of Jim McPake as the Dee had aimed to bounce back into the Premiership after being relegated last season.
After winning once and drawing twice in their first 3 games of the season, Dundee has since gone on to lose 3 of their last 4 matches- including being thrashed 6-2 by city rivals Dundee United- as well as picking up a win against Alloa Athletic a few weeks ago. Danny Johnson opened the scoring within the first 2 minutes but Alloa brought things level less than 10 minutes later, although Jordan McGhee put the Dee ahead in what would end up being the winner for McPake’s side.
This game is a must-win for both sides and it’s potentially a season-defining game. If Queen of the South can grab all 3 points then they move away from the relegation zone, and their home form hasn’t been all too bad, winning once, drawing and losing twice in their last 5 games. Dundee also needs the points to recover from their last few performances as a win would also propel them into the top 4 before everyone else’s games over the weekend. The Dees’s away form in recent months has been uninspiring, losing their last 2 outings and drawing twice before that, with their last win being a 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers in the League Cup in July. We feel like neither team has done surprisingly well in recent weeks and we don’t expect that to change for this tie. We’re backing both teams to score and a final result of 1-1.
