Rangers vs Brondby Predictions

• Rangers have won only one of their last ten games by more than one goal.
• Brondby have only lost one of their eight away games this season  by more than one goal.
• Rangers have not scored more than twice in any of their last seven home games (all competitions).

Rangers have no room for error

Back-to-back defeats in Group A of the Europa League have left Steven Gerrard’s Rangers no room for error ahead of Thursday’s clash with Brondby.

The Scottish champions can have few complaints about the outcome of either their opening 2-1 home reverse to Lyon or the dismal outing against Sparta when they were reduced to ten men in Prague. In neither performance, did they create enough to warrant anything like a win and nor did they defend well enough for draws.

The Light Blues couldn’t hold on for an important league win against Hearts at the weekend which suggests they aren’t quite the team that bestrode the division as invincibles last May.

Light Blues haven’t been putting teams away

Gerrard’s men haven’t scored enough goals this season, finding the net only eight times in their last eight Premiership and European games, which leaves them open to the occasional upset. Gers could still prove to be stronger than their Danish opponents over 90 minutes with Brondby appearing very beatable on the road.

The Boys from Vestegnen have won only one of their nine competitive away games in 2021-22 and that was against part-time opposition from the Danish fifth tier. They have lost nine of their last ten Europa League away games too, so Rangers odds on price isn’t far off.

The hosts’ inability to put teams away in games this season is a concern, however, so given the prices are the same we would rather tale Brondby +2 on the handicap than Rangers to win.

A correct score play of 2-1 to Rangers seems about right here given the Ibrox side have conceded exactly five goals in their last five home games and never scored more than twice during that spell.
