Hull will perhaps think they should be up there with the top 3 given the quality in their squad but a really mixed run of results over a prolonged period has seen them fall 10 points off the top two and 8 behind Brighton in 3rd. Hull come into this game after a last gasp 2-1 win over Wolves on Friday but they’ve only picked up 1 point from their last 4 away games so you can’t feel confident about their chances here.

That is despite Reading being in poor form. The Royals have lost their last 3 league matches but do have 2 league wins under their belts this month following victories over Bolton and Birmingham. Both sides are perhaps paying the price for lengthy cup runs with both managers having to rotate their teams a little to cope with 8 league matches this month.

Hull are fairly clear favourites to win this but you wouldn’t feel safe putting your money on them to do that. Were it not for a last gasp goal against Huddersfield last time out on the road, they’d have lost 4 successive away games coming into this. Reading had gone 8 home games without defeat before losing to Birmingham last time out at the Madejski so surely backing Double Chance – Reading or Draw at 8/11 looks to offer real value here.
