      Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Eight of Real Oviedo’s last 11 matches have contained fewer than three goals, as have four of their last five outings at home. Opponents Espanyol have seen seven of their last eight fixtures on the road feature two goals or fewer.

      Draw 0-0

      Reason for tip

Real Oviedo drew 0-0 with Eibar in the home leg of their play-off semi-final, a third successive clean sheet at home. Espanyol have kept six clean sheets in their last seven on the road, four of which have been goalless stalemates.

      Real Oviedo vs Espanyol Predictions

      • Eight of Real Oviedo’s last 11 games have had fewer than three goals
      • There have been under three strikes in 12 of Espanyol’s last 16 outings
      • Espanyol have not conceded a goal in four outings

Can Real Oviedo steal a march?

Real Oviedo had a fairly disappointing end to the regular season, but have put that to one side since the play-offs started, dispatching of Eibar to reach the final.

They kept clean sheets in both legs of that tie, drawing 0-0 at home before winning 2-0 on the road, meaning only three of their last 11 outings have contained 3+ strikes.

Estadio Municipal Carlos Tartiere in particular has been a fortress, with Luis Carrión’s side keeping three consecutive clean sheets there, where only one of the last five matches have included at least three goals.

Resilient Espanyol finding form at the right time

Beating Espanyol won’t be easy though, given the visitors are on a run of 18 games without defeat, including a narrow 1-0 aggregate win over Sporting Gijon in the play-off semi-finals.

Indeed, it’s now four successive clean sheets for Manolo González’s side, while the two goals they have conceded in their last seven away fixtures both came in a 2-2 stalemate against Elche.

In fact, of the last 16 games Espanyol have played, 12 of them have contained fewer than three goals, including seven of the last eight on the road.

I predict that there will be under three goals in this game, as both teams will want to keep things tight, with a 0-0 scoreline my prediction.
