Can Rennes continue revival?

Rennes finally returned to winning ways last time out, with a welcome 3-0 victory over Nantes ending a run of four successive defeats.

Three of those losses were in the league, and as such they have slipped to seventh in the table, four points outside the European places, but their home form gives reason for positivity.

Although beaten 2-1 by Toulouse in their last outing at Roazhon Park, Julien Stéphan’s side have won four of their last six games there, with 24 of their 42 points this season picked up on home soil.

That will not be welcome news to visitors Brest, who have suffered successive losses at the hands of Lyon and Monaco to drop to third place in the table.

As such, they are nervously glancing down the table, with only a five-point cushion now separating themselves and fifth place.

Eric Roy’s side can still qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history, but the manner of their 4-3 reversal to Lyon two games ago has clearly left some scarring.

They have also struggled a touch on the road of late, losing twice in three outings, and winning only two of their last seven away games across all competitions.
