Rochdale vs Maidstone United Predictions
Maidstone will certainly have felt aggrieved not to have come through this one last weekend, the National League side played very well and, arguably, had the better of the game. However, a 94th minute free-kick allowed Rochdale a way back in and the League One side will now fancy their chances of going through to the 2nd round in front of a home crowd.
The hosts may have struggled somewhat in the original tie between these two, as well as going down 4-0 at the hands of Bradford at the weekend, but their home record is very impressive of late and, in truth, is hard to get away from.
The bet to go for here is ‘Rochdale to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’. The hosts are just fancied to have too much for this National League opposition back on their own patch, although they aren’t likely to do it in low-scoring fashion.
Most of Maidstone’s success this season has come at their own ground, whereas on the road they’ve tended to struggle. They’re without a win in four away matches now, all four of which saw at least three goals hit the net. Three of those matches saw the visitors concede on three occasions. This bodes well and Rochdale, a side who’ve scored nine in their last five home matches, should certainly feel confident about their scoring chances ahead of this one.
With the extra quality, the League One outfit should be able to dominate this game going forward and it would be no surprise if they were to score three or more goals in this match themselves; however, the visitors, who have proven already that they can threaten, may also get chances, especially on the counter and a goal there should only add to the likelihood of this one landing.
