Roda JC vs Feyenoord Predictions

Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord return from the winter break with a five point lead over Ajax, and it’s difficult to see that being cut in Holland’s opening weekend of football in 2017. That’s because they travel to face struggling Roda on Sunday morning, a couple of hours before their closest challengers kick off. This clash sees the worst home record in the league against the best away, which justifies Feyenoord’s 4/11 price ahead of the game.

After an excellent record on the road in the opening half of the season, few are expecting the leaders to struggle. They’ve won 75% of their away trips so far, averaging 2.38 points per game. They’ve dropped just five points on the road, backing up their push for the Dutch title. On the other hand, Roda have yet to pick up a home win. Can they change that in probably their toughest game of the campaign here?

Roda may not have won here yet, but they’ve still been a decent test for sides at the Parkstad Limburg. They’ve drawn 62% of their matches in front of their own fans. They’ve failed to win any of their last eight in the Eredivisie, but they’ve only lost one of those. They’ve drawn far too many, with their main issue being a lack of goals needed to turn those draws into victories. They average just 0.38 goals per game here, which has contributed massively to their poor season.

The last thing Roda need is a visit from one of the league’s best defences. Feyenoord have conceded just 0.63 goals per game on their travels this term. They’ve managed to win to nil in 62% of their away trips in the Eredivisie, and in almost half of their league games overall. Roda could be the latest to suffer that fate judging by their lack of goal threat.

The struggling side have failed to score in 65% of their league matches, while they’ve lost to nil in 38% at home. The visitors have won three in a row ahead of this one, which has strengthened their grip on top spot. Given that form, we’re backing an away win and clean sheet here at 11/8 with bet365. With Feyenoord averaging over two goals a game here, we’ve also backed a 2-0 victory for the leaders, which is 6/1 with bet365.
