Santos have endured a tough start to the season in Serie A and they currently sit 13th, but they may be able to get a positive result against high-flying Flamengo this weekend.

Flamengo sit fourth but suffered a 4-0 thrashing at Bragantino in their last outing and the early signs suggest their away form could be an issue this term.

Santos can claim morale boosting win

Santos are winless in nine overall but they’ve only lost once at home in six league games. That came via a 2-0 defeat to Corinthians in their last outing at the Estadio Urbano Caldeira, where they conceded two early goals and were unable to get back into the game despite dominating the second half.

A game against Flamengo is clearly a big ask but the visitors have been poor on their travels and at a big price a win for Santos looks worth the risk here.

Flamengo were woeful at Bragantino, conceding 30 attempts (12 on target) and failing to register a single attempt on target themselves. The Rubro-Negro have lost three of their five trips and their two wins have both come against sides below Santos.

The hosts have managed to hold defending champions Palmeiras to a draw and have also claimed a home point against a good Internacional outfit at home, so they may be able to record an eye-catching win over poor travellers Flamengo this weekend.
