Schalke vs Cologne Betting Tips

After opening the season with a 5-0 victory in the DFP Pokal against Duisburg and following it with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, Schalke had a little blip.

They could only take a point off the newly promoted Darmstadt, and then they lost 3-0 at Wolfsburg. But since then they have been unstoppable, despite losing star player Julian Draxler at the end of the transfer window.

They have won their last six matches in all competitions. They have now kept five clean sheets in a row and have scored 13 goals at the other end.

This has lifted them to 3^rd in the Bundesliga table, and a win on Sunday could see them leapfrog Borussia Dortmund and go within a point of Bayern Munich depending on results elsewhere.

Cologne sit in a respectable 7^th position in the Bundesliga after picking up 11 points from their opening seven games, but they have been a bit disappointing over the last few weeks.

They have only won one of their last four league games, losing twice away from home against Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin.

Cologne could only manage a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted Ingolstadt last Friday, and with Schalke being a much better team than them they won’t have particularly high hopes for this game.

But Cologne have won the last three meetings between these sides, with Schalke taking the points in the two games before that.

Cologne’s only away points of the season came against the dreadful Stuttgart back in the middle of August, and they have lost both of their last two away days convincingly.

Schalke haven’t lost on home turf since March, and I’m fully expecting them to extend that run on Sunday. Odds of 8/11 for a Schalke win look like incredible value for money as well, so I’m putting a good lump on that along with a 3-0 win at 12/1. Schalke to Win to Nil at 21/10 also looks very attractive.
