Scotland vs Faroe Islands Predictions

  • Faroe Islands have scored at least once in nine of their last ten matches.
  • Both teams have notched in six of Faroe Islands’ last seven games.
  • Scotland have won five and drawn two of their last seven home assignments.
  • Faroe Islands have scored in each of their last five away fixtures.

Scotland targeting first win

Two draws from two games against Austria and Israel represents a solid if unspectacular start for Scotland in Group F, though a first victory for Steve Clarke’s charges should be on the cards against an ordinary Faroe Islands outfit on Wednesday.

With their annual slip-up in Israel out of the way, Scotland return to Hampden Park this week, where they drew 2-2 with group favourites Austria in their last home outing.

Scotland pushed their unbeaten run in Glasgow to seven games with that tie against the Austrians, and the hosts should be able to harness home advantage to good effect again this week.

Faroes making up the numbers

Any finish higher than last place would be seen as a successful qualification campaign for Faroe Islands in Group F, though their 3-1 reverse in Austria on Sunday was a taste of things to come.

Håkan Ericson’s minnows took the lead in Vienna before they were pegged back before the interval, indeed, the Faroe Islands have developed a real knack for getting in on the act over the past year.

Win but no clean sheet for Scotland

Faroe Islands’ consolation strike in Austria was the ninth time in their last ten assignments where they impacted the scoresheet – a run that includes goals in each of their last five matches on the road.

Their improving output in the final third suggests they could notch against a Scotland defence that shipped three goals in their first pair of qualifiers, though any effort they do register will likely be another consolation.

With that in mind, backing Scotland and both teams to score on Wednesday appeals at the prices on offer, while our 3-1 correct score prediction tips the hosts to collect three points for the first time in Group F.

Faroe Islands’ only away win in their last 19 attempts since 2016 came at Andorra’s expense, and Scotland should have too much class for the section’s makeweights.
