This World Cup group, containing Brazil, Switzerland, Serbia, and Costa Rica, is absolutely wide open coming into this final round of matches. Costa Rica’s duo of defeats mean that they are out of the running, but there is just a single point between the other three teams and all of them will fancy their chances at taking the top spot.

Serbia are the team who are on the back foot though. They come into this game 3rd in the group, a point behind Switzerland and Brazil and knowing that they are likely to need a victory against the pre-tournament favourites to progress to the knockout rounds.

It’s a rather unfortunate position they are in to be fair. A hotly contested match with Switzerland was settled by a last minute Xherdan Shaqiri goal, whilst at the other end Aleksander Mitrovic saw a very strong penalty appeal waved away. They have looked very promising so far, but beating Brazil is another matter entirely.

The most successful nation in World Cup history were expected to breeze this group, but it’s turned out to be a little more difficult than they imagined. They failed to beat Switzerland in their opener in a match that was surprisingly well matched, and Costa Rica managed to contain the waves of Brazilian attacks until stoppage time.

Eventually Brazil went on to win 2-0, but it certainly wasn’t the Brazil we all expected to see. With Switzerland facing Costa Rica in their final game, Brazil know that there’s a good chance they need a win to secure the top spot in this group.

Brazil have failed to score in just one of their last 14 competitive matches and are unbeaten in 13, so we can’t see Serbia keeping a clean sheet here. However, Serbia have scored in each of their last 15 competitive games as well, so backing Both Teams to Score here looks a good choice.

In the end we’re expecting Brazil to pull through though. They have won 11 of their last 14 competitive matches, so we’re backing a Brazil Win and Both Teams to Score alongside a 2-1 correct score predictions.

Neymar may be the Brazilian poster boy, but it’s been Phillipe Coutinho changing the games for Brazil so far. He has scored in both of their group games so far and in each of his last three appearances for Brazil, so we’re backing him to get on the scoresheet here too.
