Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Predictions
Both sides made good progress in January to make the last four and will see this as a great chance to make a domestic cup final. What’s more the winners of this tie will also get to play in the Spanish Super Cup final if Barcelona progress from the other Semi and also win the league, both of which they are firmly odds-on to do.
The prize is large here then and Sevilla are favourites to win on the night and also over the two legs. That is despite the fact that Celta Vigo caused a big shock in the last round by winning 3-2 at the Vicente Calderon to knock out Atletico Madrid. Their recent league form though has been very poor and they’ve lost 5 of their last 6 Primera Division matches to slip down to 7th place, 2 points below their opponents.
The absence of Nolito has been a big factor in their slump but they’ve also looked shaky at the back of late and have conceded 12 goals in their last 5 league matches. Sevilla are well equipped to take advantage of that and were comfortable 5-0 aggregate winners against Second Tier Mirandes in the Quarter Finals.
They have improved considerably since their home defeat to Celta Vigo earlier in the season and it is hard to see a repeat result here. Sevilla have lost just 1 of their last 17 matches in all competitions and have racked up an impressive 11 consecutive home victories coming into this tie so backing a Sevilla win here looks a pretty safe bet at 4/6.
As has been something of a theme this year, these two clubs also meet at the weekend in the league meaning they will face each other 3 times in the space of a week with the return leg in Galicia next week. Given Sevilla’s poor away record they will be keen to work up a bit of a margin here and can be backed to win 3-1 at 12/1, something they did just last weekend when Levante visited in La Liga.
