Sevilla vs Fenerbahce Predictions
- Sevilla have won five of their last six home league games
- Sevilla have kept four clean sheets in five home outings
- Both teams have scored in only three of Sevilla’s eight European games this season
Europa League specialists Sevilla face Fener
This is a competition Sevilla have enjoyed plenty of success in having won it six times since 2006 and the La Liga outfit should be optimistic about their chances in their round of 16 first leg at home to Fenerbahce.
It has been a miserable season so far for Sevilla, so much so that they sit 17th in La Liga with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation places.
However, they are a different beast in Europe and they did knock out Eredivisie side PSV in the playoff round, winning 3-0 at home before suffering a 2-0 defeat on the road.
Sevilla did also beat Copenhagen 3-0 at home in the Champions League group stages, as well as claiming a point at Borussia Dortmund, which suggests they should be too strong for Fenerbahce.
Sevilla a step too far for Femer
The Turkish visitors may be in better form and are unbeaten in seven games, but this is a step up in class to what they are used to playing against domestically.
Fenerbahce are also unbeaten in ten Europa League fixtures this season but Rennes would be the best team they have come up against during that run and they were twice held to score draws against the French side.
Despite their struggles this season, Sevilla have been pretty reliable at home, winning five of their last six games on their own patch, and they can add Fener to that hit list.
Correct-score punters should take a 2-0 margin of victory. Sevilla have kept clean sheets in four of their last five at home.
