Sevilla vs Juventus Predictions

Sevilla managed to get back to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Deportivo 3-2 in a La Liga thriller. They came back from two goals behind, scoring two goals in the final five minutes to avoid making it three consecutive defeats. Prior to this they had lost to Barcelona in the league and lost a friendly at home to Boca Juniors, ending a previous run of seven games without defeat.

This leaves them 3rd in the La Liga but six points adrift of leaders Real Madrid, but their Champions League campaign is going much better. Victories over Dinamo Zagreb (twice) and Lyon and a draw away to Juventus have put them top of their group with just two games remaining. Qualification to the knockout stages is all but sealed with six points between them and Lyon, but a win on Tuesday would wrap up the top spot.

Victory might be easier to come by than expected for the hosts as well. Juventus may be in excellent form but they are missing key players through injury. Defensive trio Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli, and Dani Alves are all injured and the likes of Claudio Marchisio, Marko Pjaca, and most importantly Paulo Dybala are also missing.

Dybala’s absence leaves all the onus on Gonzalo Higuain, and although the Argentine is in fantastic form he will be coming up against a Sevilla defence who haven’t conceded a Champions League goal this season.

Juventus aren’t exactly bad at the back either. They have only conceded once in the Champions League this season, although their recent injury problems does mean they have conceded in five of their last six matches in all competitions.

This excellent defensive record between the sides makes a low scoring game and at least one clean sheet look a high likelihood. Sevilla will probably be keeping it very tight at the back as they look to retain their advantage at the top of the group heading into their final group game. This nudges our predictions towards a Both Teams Not to Score bet at 4/5, and I’m backing that along with a 1-0 win for Sevilla at 13/2 for my correct score prediction.
