Sevilla vs West Ham United Predictions
- Sevilla are unbeaten in ten home matches
- West Ham have won just twice over 90 minutes in their last 11 on the road
- Sevilla have not lost a Europa League match at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán since 2016
Sevilla to take first leg advantage?
This is not a particularly easy draw, but Europa League specialists Sevilla will fancy their chances of getting a win in the first leg of this last-16 tie against a side who have been stumbling along of late.
Julen Lopetegui’s team are in decent touch themselves, particularly on home soil where they have won seven of their last ten and been beaten just once in eighteen matches this season.
They are strong defensively, keeping seven clean sheets over that period, while their record at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in this competition is staggering – they are unbeaten in 17 matches since 2016.
Have West Ham hit the wall?
Their challenge for a top four spot in the Premier League seems to be faltering, and this could barely have been a tougher draw for West Ham, who are on a run of one win in five and have lost their last two.
David Moyes’ side are struggling for goals and have netted just three times in their last four, a problem further exacerbated by Jarrod Bowen limping off against Liverpool at the weekend.
The Hammers are not in great touch on the road either, losing six of their last 11 and winning just twice (over 90 minutes), while they have not reached a European quarter-final since the 1980/81 UEFA Cup.
Sevilla are on a good run at the moment, so I think West Ham face a tough assignment. I predict a home win, selecting 2-0 as a correct score.
