Sevilla vs Wolfsburg Predictions

  • Both teams to score has landed in four of Sevilla’s last six games and they have scored in all of those.
  • There have been goals at both ends in three of Wolfsburg’s group games and in three of Sevilla’s.
  • The Spanish side have five wins in eight home games in all competitions (D2, L1).

Key clash for Sevilla and Wolfsburg

Sevilla and Wolfsburg are both in danger of an early Champions League exit ahead of their Group G meeting at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Tuesday.

Sevilla are yet to claim a win in the competition but remain in contention for a top two spot in the group with just four points separating leaders Salzburg and the Spanish outfit, who sit at the foot of the table with three points from four games.

Wolfsburg sit in third spot and are a point better off, and while both teams could do with a win here there is also a ‘must not lose’ feel about this tie too as a defeat for either side would potentially put a top two finish out of reach going into the final round of games.

Goals at both ends has potential

La Liga leaders Sevilla have an excellent record in defence domestically this season with just nine goals conceded in 13 games but recently errors at the back have started to creep in.

Los Nervionenses conceded twice in a 2-2 draw with Alaves at home at the weekend and they have managed just two clean sheets in their last six games, although they did score themselves in all of those games.

Both teams have scored in two of Wolfsburg’s last three games and both teams to score has landed in six of the eight group games these sides have been involved in in this season’s Champions League, including the reverse fixture – a 1-1 draw at the Volkswagen Arena.

Home advantage gives Sevilla the edge

Sevilla were able to dominate possession in the first meeting in Germany and they should be able to control the game for large periods in front of their own fans on Tuesday. Sevilla did lose to Lille in their last Champions League home game and were held by Alaves at the weekend but their home record remains strong, with five wins in eight games across all competitions.

This may well be a close affair but if any team is to steal a win it is likely to be the hosts and as such a 2-1 home win is the pick in the correct score market.
