Sheffield United to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield United have won eight of their last 10 home games and they overcame Blackburn 3-0 in the corresponding fixture earlier in the season. Rovers’ away form has been mixed all season as they have lost over half of their league trips and have just two wins in their last eight on the road, so we’re backing United to come out on top.

Sheffield United 1-0

Reason for tip

This could well be a cagey affair as both sides look to book a Wembley date but home advantage clearly gives Sheffield United the edge. However, Blackburn are in form it is hard to see the Blades running away with this one and 1-0 win for the hosts looks a reasonable correct score selection,.

Sheffield United vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions

  • Sheffield United beat Blackburn 3-0 in the corresponding league game earlier this season.
  • Blades have eight wins in their last 10 at home, including a 1-0 win over Spurs in this competition.
  • Blackburn have just two wins in their last eight away from home.

Wembley beckons for Blades or Rovers

Championship pair Sheffield United and Blackburn meet in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday with a place at Wembley at stake.

Both sides are involved in the promotion battle in the second tier and they have already played each other twice in the league, with both sides managing wins in their home games.

United claimed a 3-0 success at Bramall Lane way back in August but Blackburn triumphed 1-0 in the most recent meeting at Ewood Park earlier this month.

Home advantage gives Blades the edge

Rovers are the team in the better form as they have six wins in their last seven games, including a 2-1 win at Leicester in the previous round of this competition.

However, United’s home record is hard to ignore as they have 36 points from 18 home league games and they overcame Tottenham in South Yorkshire in their last FA Cup date.

Blackburn’s away form has been patchy all season – they’ve lost 10 of their 19 league trips and have just two wins in their last eight away across all competitions – so a home win looks the best option for our main bet.

Blackburn could be left frustrated

When Sheffield United win at home, they usually manage to keep clean sheets and four of their last five home victories have been accompanied by shut-outs.

Blackburn have scored in each of their last nine games but that run may well come to an end at Bramall Lane on Sunday. This could well be a cagey affair and as Blackburn are in form it is hard to see the Blades running away with this one so a 1-0 win for the hosts looks a reasonable correct score selection, as their last two home victories have been 1-0 successes.
