Sheffield Wednesday vs Charlton Predictions

Charlton are out of form, but an away win at Sheffield Wednesday might represent a touch of value.

They are six places above bottom club Sheffield Wednesday in the table, with 53 points separating the two teams. Charlton, who are 18th, have 12 wins, 13 draws and 17 defeats, while Wednesday have just one win after 42 games this season.

The home side have found it hard to keep things tight defensively this season. Sheffield Wednesday have conceded 42 goals at home in the Championship – an average of two per game from 21 matches – and no team has shipped more goals in the league overall. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 19 games.

Their struggles in front of goal are a major concern. No Championship team has failed to find the net in more games this season than the Owls’ total of 22, and they have been particularly disappointing at home, scoring just 11 goals in 21 matches – an average of 0.52 goals per game.

Sheffield Wednesday are without a win in 36 Championship games and have won just one of their last 31 home matches. They have failed to win 49 of their last 51 games in the league.

Charlton, on the other hand, are in good form on the road, having gone six away trips without losing a Championship game and with just one defeat in their last eight matches.

A 2-1 win for Charlton looks a decent correct-score bet. Both teams have found the net in eight of the last ten Championship games between these sides, and nine of Charlton’s 12 wins this season were by a single goal.
