Sheffield Wednesday Draw No Bet

Reason for tip

Both of these teams are going through difficult times but a big-game atmosphere and a more positive attitude could be enough to help Wednesday home, so take the draw-no-bet option on the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday 1-0

Reason for tip

Neither Wednesday or United are good at getting over the line but the home crowd could help the Owls to only their second win of the season, so go for a 1-0 success for Henrik Pedersen’s side.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • There have been just two goals in the last five meetings
  • Sheffield United have taken just one point from their last four matches
  • The Blades have scored more than one goal in just two of their 15 Championship outings this season

Wednesday have little to lose in derby clash

It is safe to say it is turning into a miserable season for both Sheffield clubs in the Championship, but it could be Wednesday who just have more cause to smile after the first Steel City derby of the campaign on Sunday.

Off-the-field issues have led to the Owls being deducted 12 points after entering administration and they would be at the bottom of the table even without that punishment, having won just once all season and scored only three goals in their eight matches at Hillsborough.

It is going to take a huge effort for them to stay in the second tier, but they would be only two points behind their arch-rivals United had their tally not been reduced and there is little to recommend the Blades at a shade of odds-on to overcome their rivals across the city.

Wilder returns has not sparked transformation

United have had the better of recent derbies – Wednesday have won just one of their last ten – but they have struggled since losing last season’s playoff final against Sunderland and the reappointment of manager Chris Wilder has not really had the desired effect.

While they have won at Blackburn and Oxford since his return, they conceded three times in both of theri last two away matches at Preston and Coventry.

There will be a huge atmosphere at Hillsborough and that could be enough to help the Owls over the line, as they will have nothing to lose and their supporters will demand a positive performance.

They could be rewarded so it is worth backing Wednesday in the draw-no-bet market – they have finished level five times in the league this season – with a 1-0 home win the preferred correct-score option in a fixture that has been recently tight.
