Swansea City Double Chance (Win or Draw)
Reasoning
Stoke City vs Swansea City Predictions
- Stoke have failed to win seven of their last 11 home league games, including the last two.
- Swansea have avoided defeat in seven of their last ten Championship away matches.
Swans good enough to draw at Stoke
Alex Neil takes charge of Stoke City for the first time on Wednesday as Swansea City provide a tricky first test for the ex-Sunderland boss. Neil saw the Potters earn their second win of the campaign on Saturday when they pressed the life out of Blackburn at Ewood Park.
That was under caretaker boss Dean Holden’s direction and it will be interesting to see if Neil keeps the same personnel and style for the visit of the pass-happy Swans. Russell Martin’s side are down in the dumps at the moment after suffering a second straight league defeat and, coming after they gave up a 2-0 lead at home to Millwall, their form is on the decline.
However, they have avoided defeat in two of their three away trips so far this season and should not fear what awaits them at the bet365 Stadium, where Stoke have won only four of their last 11 in the league.
Potters’ paltry xG at Ewood Park hints at issues
Backing the visitors to avoid defeat offers value in this market as Stoke are way too short at around even money for the win. Lewis Baker’s winner at Blackburn was from 25 yards out and even though they created other chances their total xG on the contest was a paltry 0.44 and only a third of their opponents’ figure.
Swansea’s away xG figures are nothing special, but they are generally in the close vicinity of their opponents’, which suggests they can earn a draw in the Potteries this week. A 1-1 draw is forecast because Swansea have scored exactly once in all three of their away games this term while Stoke currently average 1.33 goals for and 1.0 against at home.
