Sint-Truidense vs Union Saint-Gilloise Predictions

Visitors flying high 

The league leaders are currently four points clear at the top of the table despite a 3-1 loss to Leuven at the weekend.  

A huge part of their surge to the summit has been their ability to pick up points on the road. Union SG have taken 19 points away from home this term, more than any other team in the division, winning six of their eight matches including each of their last four.  

Our prediction of over 1.5 team goals for the visitors stems from the fact that they have two or more goals in each of their last four away matches. Taking aside the seven goals they put past Oostende in their most recent trip, the visitors have scored 16 goals in seven away league matches, 2.2 on average.  

Hosts have a difficult ask 

The home side were beaten 2-0 last time out by Seraing to leave them 11th in the standings coming into this game. In their most recent home fixture, Sint-Truiden, defeated second-placed Antwerp but they have lost four of their eight matches as hosts and conceded two in a 2-2 draw with the league’s second-highest scorers Anderlecht earlier in the season so I don’t expect them to have as much luck here.  

Union SG have scored 10 more goals than Anderlecht, such has been their scoring spree, and I have no doubt they will score over 1.5 goals here. In fact, with over 2.5 goals scored per game on average I’m expecting them to score three here but they have shipped just over a goal a game themselves so we’re going for a 3-1 win in the correct score market.
