Southampton can extend St Mary’s dominance

Southampton have enjoyed success in eight of their last ten home games in the Championship and they should be backed to get the win when Bristol City visit St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

Bristol City are six places above Southampton in the table, but both teams have won more games than they have lost this season. City, in seventh, have three wins and one defeat, while the hosts sit 13th with three wins and one loss.

Southampton are in excellent form at home, having won their last three Championship games and gone 13 matches unbeaten.

They have scored in 37 of their last 39 league games and have found the net in 26 consecutive matches. They have been prolific at home, scoring three goals or more in three of their six Championship games this season.

The hosts are solid favourites. Southampton have won eight of the last nine Championship home games in which they were odds-on.

The Bristol City defence has been unconvincing of late, with the visitors failing to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine Championship games. They have yet to keep out their opponents away from home this season, after three road trips.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Southampton looks the most likely outcome in the correct-score betting.
