Southampton had a slow start to the season, winning just one of their first eight games in all competitions and crashing out of the Europa League in the process.

However, they overcame this challenge and embarked on an impressive eight match unbeaten streak in all competitions, winning six in the process.

But things have taken a turn for the worse again over the past month or so. Southampton come into this match having lost four of their last five games in all competitions, drawing the remaining game to make for a five match winless streak.

This, coupled with their disappointing start to the season, has seen them slip down to 12^th in the Premier League table having collected 21 points from their first 16 games.

Tottenham Hotspur were enjoying their unbeaten streak, which stretched back nine games and almost three months.

But it came to an end last weekend as relegation candidates Newcastle picked up a shock victory at White Hart Lane.

This defeat saw them miss out on the chance to move into the top four. A win would have seen them leapfrog Manchester United to take 4^th place on goal difference.

Despite the loss, Spurs are still in good form coming into this game. They have won six of their last ten games in all competitions and will be confident of adding a seventh against Southampton.

Spurs have had great success against Southampton in recent years. They have won five of their last six meetings and haven’t lost to them since 2005.

Neither team has any new injury concerns to deal with. Southampton are still without Jay Rodriguez, Florin Gardos, and Fraser Forster while Spurs will miss Moussa Dembele, Ryan Mason, and Alex Pritchard.
