Bees will be fresh after ten-day break

Barnet offer more value than Southend in the betting for Tuesday’s National League clash at Roots Hall. The visitors arrive on the coast after a ten-day break following the postponement of their Boxing Day clash with Boreham Wood because of COVID-19 cases in their opponents’ camp.

The Bees have won three and drawn one of their last six road trips, going down in close games to Wealdstone and Yeovil during that spell. But their 2-1 away wins at Woking and Stockport show they cannot be taken for granted here and could certainly take home all three points.

The double chance price on Barnet still offers some value and it is a much safer play given Southend were arguably the better side in their 1-1 draw with promotion-chasing Bromley on Boxing Day.

Shrimpers failing to land much at home

The Shrimpers have failed to win 75% of their home league games in 2021-22, so their performance at Hayes Lane may count for nothing here. Boss Kevin Maher admitted his side were dealing with some bumps and bruises in the wake of that draw, so we are siding with the visitors not to lose this one.

Two of Southend’s last four games have ended 1-1 and a similar score draw may again be the outcome here.
