Sport Recife vs Vitoria Predictions
These are the two sides directly above the drop-zone so it is a key fixture and the loser would be in real danger of slipping into it with 7 games to go. However, that’s not necessarily going to make it a tight game, as these two sides are both much stronger going forward than they are at the back. They are the two highest scorers in the bottom nine but defensive issues have plagued them both, particularly Sport Recife.
Only two sides have conceded more goals in the Brazilian top flight this term than Sport who average 1.6 goals conceded per game at 1.4 at home. Both teams have scored in 67% of their home matches so they’ve regularly been needing to score at least twice to stand any chance of winning matches. Their form coming into this is poor, with just 3 wins in 15 overall so although they are the favourites to win this, Vitoria will certainly feel they have a chance.
Vitoria have done reasonably well given they are a newly promoted side and a goal difference of only -4 is clear evidence they have been competitive at this level. They seem bettered suited to playing against attacking teams. Their best result this season was a 4-1 win at Chapecoense earlier in the month and Chape are quite similar to Sport Recife in that they score and concede plenty.
Both teams have scored in 67% of Vitoria matches this season so they are usually a good watch and therefore goals look really likely here. A clean sheet percentage of just 13% this term is particularly alarming as far as they are concerned though and they’ve only kept one on the road ,so there should be goals in this for Sport. However, they themselves keep clean sheets only 17% of the time so backing both teams to score at 10/11 looks the way to go here.
