Sporting Gijon vs Levante Predictions
Sporting will be pretty pleased with how things are going on their return to La Liga but they are only 3 points above the relegation zone so can’t really afford to start thinking like they aren’t in for a long season.
They were 1-0 winners against Malaga in their last home game but have failed to score in defeats against Atletico and Athletic in their last two on the road. That win against Malaga was their first top flight home win in over 3 years and they’ll fancy they can secure another one here against bottom of the league Levante.
The visitors are under management though which can always make things a little more tricky. Rubi saw his side beaten 3-0 at city rivals Valencia in his first match as boss but picked up a solid home point against a Deportivo side that has been doing well last time out.
He’ll have been grateful for the 2 week international break, which offered him a chance to work with and get to know his squad better and we might see a more coherent showing from them here.
It’s hard to see there being many goals in this match. Both teams have scored in only 1 of Levante’s last 6 games, while it’s over a month since both sides scored in a game involving Sporting Gijon. This might be early days and although Sporting are doing pretty well, this still has the feel of a relegation six-pointer and it could be a cautious affair so consider backing ‘No’ in the Both Teams to Score market at 4/5.
Levante’s new boss will at least expect to see his side scrap and fight and with Sporting a little low on creativity this could end 0-0 and you can back that to be the case at 13/2.
