Lions look for another home win

Following their Europa League exploits against Arsenal, Sporting stay in Lisbon to take on mid-table Boavista in Sunday’s Primeira Liga clash at the Alvalade.
It is not a totally straightforward game for the Lions, who lost 2-1 to the Chequered Ones at the Bessa earlier this season. Petit’s men thoroughly merited the three points that day and have the know-how to make things very difficult here.
Another recent example of how Boavista competed well against one of the big boys came only last month when they eventually went down 3-1 across the Portuguese capital at the Luz to Benfica. The Porto-based side resisted the runaway leaders for 45 minutes and were level at 1-1 until the 82nd minute, which suggests they can keep Sporting at bay for long periods too.

Sporting should prevail – eventually

Ruben Amorim’s side should prevail, however, as they are currently in their best domestic run of form for some time. Backing them to win after an even first half looks the way to go here at an attractive price with the potential for a one or two-goal margin of victory by the close.
Sporting have won their last seven home games against Boavista to nil, five of them by either 1-0 or 2-0. Although the win to nil is a tempting bet too here, Boavista have scored in four of their last five Primeira Liga away trips, including the one at Benfica, which puts us off.

Nevertheless, a 2-0 correct score play on the hosts seems to fit the profile of this one best of all as Sporting have not conceded a league goal in four of their last six outings, including their previous two.
