Swansea City to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield United have made a worrying start, with a 4-1 loss to Bristol City followed by a 2-1 defeat at Birmingham in the cup. Swansea had the fourth-best record in the division last term after manager Alan Sheehan took charge. They won five of seven home games under him to close out last season, so they’re good value to catch out a Blades side with clear teething problems.

Swansea City 2-1

Reason for tip

All four of Sheffield United’s preseason games were high-scoring, with BTTS landing in each. The Blades have been vulnerable defensively so far, scoring in both of their defeats. The Swans picked up a 3-1 win in the cup in midweek, so they can catch out the Blades.

Swansea City vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Sheffield United have lost their opening two games of the season
  • The visitors have been a mess defensively, while their new attacking approach hasn’t fully clicked
  • Swansea won five of their final seven home matches last season

Worrying start for Blades

Sheffield United have made an awful start under new boss Ruben Selles, losing 4-1 at home to Bristol City before a 2-1 EFL Cup defeat at Birmingham in midweek.

The Blades put in a string of unconvincing defensive displays in preseason, which has carried over into the campaign. Bristol City caused them plenty of problems, while Birmingham recorded an xG of 3.13 in Wednesday’s win.

Swansea had a dull start with a 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough, but this is a good chance for them to bounce back. A 3-1 win over Crawley in midweek was a boost, while the Swans closed out last term with the fourth-best record across the division since Alan Sheehan took charge in February.

The Swans won five of their final seven home games under Sheehan. While they’ve lost players this summer, they meet a Sheffield United side who are reeling from a playoff final loss as they struggle to adapt to a new style of play. The hosts are a big price to condemn the Blades to a fourth consecutive defeat.
