Swansea vs Liverpool Predictions

Swansea haven’t started this season any better than they did last term despite the change in manager. Francesco Guidolin stepped in following Garry Monk’s sacking partway through last season and guided the Swans to safety, but this season he’s having some troubles of his own.

A complete change in their attacking force could be to blame, and despite winning their opening game against Burnley and shelling out a club record fee on Borja Baston up front they are still struggling in a bad way.

Since that 1-0 win on the opening day of the season they have lost against Hull, Leicester, Southampton, and Manchester City twice, one of which resulted in their elimination from the League Cup. In that time they have managed a League Cup win over Peterborough United and an impressive draw at home to Chelsea, but in general they have looked drab and find themselves down in 17th position.

Liverpool are the polar opposite to Swansea this season, with Jurgen Klopp instilling a sense of urgency into his players which has resulted in some captivating football. There is no better example than their opening game of the season when they beat Arsenal 4-3 at the Emirates, at one point being 4-1 up against them.

They did follow this with a very disappointing and wholly unexpected 2-0 loss at Burnley, but since then they have looked unstoppable. A 5-0 thrashing of Burton Albion followed, and after drawing 1-1 with Spurs, they have won four matches on the bounce.

This includes a 4-1 thrashing of Premier League champions Leicester, a 2-1 win over Chelsea, and last weekend’s 5-1 hammering of Hull. They have already scored 24 goals in their eight matches so far this season, averaging just under three per game.

Away from home they have won four, drawn one, and lost one of their six games, scoring 15 goals and conceding seven to make for some very entertaining games. Swansea are without a wom on home turf this season, losing three games and drawing once. The loss of Ashley Williams has hit them hard, as illustrated by the fact they have conceded nine goals in these four home games.

I’m fully expecting a Liverpool win here, and they are massive favourites in the bookies eyes’. I’m also expecting a high scoring game, with three of Swansea’s four home games ending with at least three goals and four of Liverpool’s six away games. This, combined with Liverpool’s in form attack, makes odds of 1/1 for a Liverpool Win and Over 2.5 Goals look a good value bet, and I’m going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 11/1 as well.
