Sweden vs Czech Republic Predictions

Sweden’s 2-1 defeat to Turkey on Thursday was probably a fair result judging by how the game went, and they won’t be too disappointed at a narrow away loss that was settled by a late goal. They’re at home on Tuesday though, so they will be hoping for a much better performance as they prepare for Euro 2016 in the summer.

They got to Euro 2016 after finishing 3rd in Group G, two points behind 2nd placed Russia, and then beating arch rivals Denmark in the playoffs thanks to the standard heroics from star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their 4-3 aggregate victory. This puts their recent record at four wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last seven outings.

Czech Republic put in a rather dismal performance on Thursday as they lost 1-0 at home to Scotland. Arguably the hosts did deserve more on the night, but failing to score at home is rarely acceptable when you’re touted as the superior team.

This was their second straight defeat, following on from a November loss to Poland, and takes their recent record to three defeats in their last five matches.

They did qualify for the European Championships in France top of their group though, so we all know the quality is there. They unfortunately just don’t seem to be able to provide that quality consistently.

Sweden have won four of their last six home matches and I think they can add another on Tuesday. The Czech’s are looking very inconsistent at the moment and are without key figure Petr Cech. Odds of 1.925 for a Sweden -0.5, 0.0 Asian Handicap Win are good value in my opinion. I’m going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2 as well.
