Draw and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Swindon have drawn their last two matches 1-1 while Colchester have drawn seven of their last eight away games 0-0 or 1-1. When these two sides met in the FA Cup at the County Ground in November the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

The U’s are unbeaten in 12 (in 90 minutes) with eight clean sheets during that run but Swindon usually score at home. The Wiltshire side have conceded exactly one goal in their last five games while Colchester have scored no more than one goal in their last seven away games.

Swindon vs Colchester Predictions

  • Swindon have drawn their last two matches 1-1
  • Colchester have drawn seven of their last eight away games 0-0 or 1-1
  • The U’s are unbeaten in 12 (in 90 minutes) with eight clean sheets during that run

U’s unbeaten run dates back to November

Colchester will look to extend their two-month unbeaten run when they face relegation-threatened Swindon at the County Ground on Wednesday afternoon. The U’s drew 1-1 with 10-man Doncaster on Sunday to make it 11 games without defeat in all competitions.

Their last loss was an extra-time defeat to Swindon in the FA Cup, but they are in much better form now than they were on their last trip to the County Ground when they were winless in seven.

Danny Cowley’s men are still not winning many matches, however, with the majority of their current run of unbeaten games being draws.

Low-scoring draw looks the most likely outcome

The U’s have the best defensive record in the division in the last two months with only two goals conceded in their last eight League Two games. And Swindon are not too shabby at the back either, having conceded only five goals in five games since they were thrashed 4-0 by Colchester at the JobServe Community Stadium in early December.

That scoreline might put a few people off backing a low-scoring stalemate in this game, but that is what the form points to with Swindon coming off back-to-back 1-1 draws against Wimbledon and Bromley.

No team in the Football League has drawn more games than Colchester, who have had 12 in total with 11 of that number finishing either 1-1 or 0-0. Backing a draw with under 2.5 goals encompasses both of those results and looks the most likely outcome on Wednesday.
