Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Predictions
- Both teams have scored in seven of Tottenham’s last ten league games.
- Tottenham have won five of their last six home league matches.
Tottenham’s slim European hopes
Tottenham have endured a hugely disappointing campaign, though a Europa League qualification berth would salvage their season and their slender hopes would be widened with a victory at home to Wolves on Sunday.
The defensive deficiencies that have hampered Spurs’ progress all year were on show again at Elland Road last week when they were thumped 3-1 by an impressive Leeds United team in Yorkshire.
Ryan Mason seems to have settled on Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier as his first-choice centre-back pairing, though neither player has particularly impressed and Tottenham could struggle to keep a clean sheet again this weekend.
Wolves leave it late
Wolves stayed on track for a comfortable mid-table finish when they beat nine-man Brighton in their last outing, though they needed a last gasp effort from Morgan Gibbs-White to snatch the points.
Wanderers have taken ten points from the last 15 on offer, while their run of just two defeats from their last nine away matches hints at a return to their stubborn best under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Both teams to score in London?
Tottenham’s soft-centre and habit of handing chances to their opponents suggests Wolves should have opportunities to notch on Sunday, however, few teams have kept Spurs’ star-studded frontline off the scoresheet this term.
With Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale and in favour against Dele Alli making up a fearsome quartet in attack, Tottenham carry huge amounts of threat in the final third and we recommend backing both teams to score as a result.
That same collection of match-winners could eventually swing the tide in Tottenham’s favour on Sunday. Spurs have won five of their last six league assignments on home soil and our 2-1 correct score prediction tips them to eventually outgun Wanderers.
Tottenham Hotspur injuries and team news
Ben Davies is Tottenham’s only injury concern, though Ryan Mason could make a few changes to the team that performed so badly at Leeds. Tanguy Ndomnbele, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura will all hope to see minutes.
Wolverhampton injuries and team news
Raul Jimenez, Pedro Neto, Jonny and Marcal are all long-term injuries for Wolves, while Willy Boly and Owen Otasowie could also miss out. Adama Traore should come back into the XI after his stellar showing off the bench against Brighton.
- Tottenham have won five of their last six Premier League home games.
- Nine of Wolverhampton’s 14 Premier League reverses this season have been by a one-goal margin.
