Toulouse vs Nancy Predictions

Toulouse said goodbye to their hopes of winning the Coupe de la Ligue in midweek as a penalty defeat at Metz sent them home. This continued their rather frustrating spell of poor form over the past couple of months, and they have now won two, drawn two, and lost five of their last nine games in all competitions.

This is a stark contrast to their sensational form at the beginning of the season and is more akin to the performances we saw last season as they narrowly avoided relegation from Ligue 1.

However, the danger is always there for opponents of Toulouse. The hosts have managed to beat the likes of PSG and Monaco at home this season, and in fairness to them they have only lost two of their home matches this season, winning all of the other seven in all competitions. This leaves them in 7th position in the table and just three points behind Lyon in 4th.

Nancy’s season is pretty much the opposite of Toulouse’s. They struggled in the opening stages but have since managed to put together a run of four wins, one draw, and two defeats in the last seven games. This includes their midweek win against St Etienne which puts them through in the Coupe de la Ligue.

Away from home it’s a different story though. They have won just one of their last seven trips away and lost three times. In the league they have only managed to pick up six points from their eight away matches, which goes some way to explaining why they are down in 14th position and just four points clear of the drop zone.

Toulouse actually lost their star striker Wissam Ben Yedder in the summer after he almost single handedly kept them in the top flight. This is why so many expected them to struggle again, but other players have stepped up to the plate. Martin Braithwaite has managed to score seven goals in his 14 league games this season and has notched five of them at the Stadium Municipal. This makes him an excellent choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at odds of 15/8.

On the balance of things I think Toulouse have a great chance of getting the three points here. Their home form this season has been excellent and they’re facing a Nancy side who have lost three of their last five trips away in the league. The hosts have also beaten Nancy in each of their last six meetings with them, so backing a Toulouse Win at 10/11 looks a good choice, as does a 2-0 correct score predictions at 7/1.
