Turkey vs Azerbaijan Predictions
- Turkey have lost just one of their last 14 home matches, winning eight.
- Senol Gunes’ side have lost just one of their last ten games overall, winning two of their last three.
- Azerbaijan have won just one of their last 14 internationals, losing eight.
- The visitors have failed to score in six of their last eight outings.
Turks to warm up with a comfortable win in Alanya
Turkey are heavy odds-on favourites for their Euro 2020 warm-up match against Azerbaijan this Thursday and Senol Gunes’ side should register a cosy victory over their neighbours.
85 places separate Turkey (25th) and Azerbaijan (110th) in the FIFA World Rankings and that’s likely to be reflected here in Alanya – even though the hosts may just be moving through the gears ahead of their crucial clash against Italy in the Euros on 11th June.
The Turks are extremely solid on their own soil with eight wins and just one defeat from their last 14 starts, while their 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign began superbly with 4-2 and 0-3 victories posted over Netherlands and Norway respectively.
Senol Gunes’ side blotted their copybook last time out with a 3-3 draw at home to Latvia, but we’re happy to draw a line through that result as the Turks have generally been progressive throughout the last two years.
It’s easy to envisage a dominant display from the hosts this Thursday without quite perhaps securing an emphatic result, as Azerbaijan generally manage to keep games fairly tight despite their poor results.
The away side have failed to score though in six of their last eight and have lost wight of their last 14 internationals, so a Turkey win to nil is the selection for the action in Alanya and we’re also predicting a 2-0 correct score.
