Another big test for Spain

Spain cruised to a 3-0 win in Bulgaria to open their World Cup qualifying campaign, but the European champions face a much bigger test when they visit Turkey on Sunday night.

The hosts also started with a victory, having won 3-2 at Georgia earlier this week. Turkey’s run to the last eight of the Euros spurred some real optimism around a talented young side, so they’ll be aiming to test the Spanish on home soil.

Turkey have won four of their first five games in 2025, while they’ve scored at least twice in each of those victories. However, the hosts have managed only one clean sheet, an issue which plagued them last year, too.

Turkey conceded in 11 of their 15 matches in 2024, while they face a Spain side who have also been struggling at the back. The visitors scored 12 times across four Nations League matches to start the year, but they also conceded in each of those.

The Spanish conceded in victories at Switzerland and Denmark in their previous Nations League campaign, so back both teams to score, alongside a 3-2 away win.
