Valencia vs Malaga Predictions

This has the makings of a really good contest and there is the potential for goals. The main reason for that is Valencia’s inability to defend properly. They’ve kept just 1 clean sheet in 41 league games now and Cesare Prandelli is still waiting for his first clean sheet in charge of Los Che, having taken the job over two months ago. So far the Italian is just the latest in a long line of Valencia coaches to fail to deliver the goods. He has taken 5 points from 7 matches in the league and Valencia have won just 1 of their last 8 league games at the Mestalla, so there is plenty of reason to think Malaga can get a result here and an away goal looks near enough a certainty.

Valencia did pick up a morale boasting 3-1 win at Leganes in the Copa del Rey in midweek though and there have been signs that their midfield and forward line is improving. They’ve scored 1.5 goals per game at home so far which is solid enough but have leaked a massive 2.33 at the other end at the Mestalla so it isn’t hard to see where their problems lie.

Malaga had the reputation for being a defensive side last season but that’s changed a little this. Injuries to some key defenders has played its part and there have been 4 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 league matches. Malaga have scored 13 goals in those 5 games and that includes trips to the Vicente Calderon and Camp Nou so clearly they are in good touch in front of goal right now.

Striker Sandro Ramirez is a big reason for that. He has been a revelation since his summer switch from Barcelona. The youngster has scored in 6 of Malaga’s last 9 league games and given that he looks a great bet at 15/8 to score anytime here.

Both teams have scored in 85% of Valencia games in La Liga this term and in 62% of Malaga games. Therefore, there looks to be real value in backing both teams to score at 3/4.
