Valencia vs Real Betis Predictions
The visitors will be pretty happy with their start to their first season back in the top flight. 4 points isn’t a bad return from 3 games which have included a trip to the Bernabeu. They may have lost that game heavily but a win over Real Sociedad last week has really got Pepe Mel’s side believing that this will be a considerably better campaign than their last at this level.
Their home form will be key to survival though and it’s hard to see them seriously troubling any of the top sides on the road, of which Valencia are certainly one.
The hosts suffered a major setback in midweek losing 3-2 at home to Zenit in their first Champions League group game. It was a surprising loss given they only lost once at the Mestalla in all of last season and it leaves them with a fair amount of work to do if they are to make the last 16. They failed to win their opening home La Liga game against Deportivo also and they’ll be desperate to land the 3 points and preferably a clean sheet here to dispel fears the defence has been severely weakened by the departure of Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City.
It won’t be easy though against Betis who in Ruben Castro have someone who is capable of taking advantage of any defensive slip-ups. Valencia have scored and conceded in all of their 3 home games so far and Betis might just see this as a game where they can play with some freedom and try to really get at a shaky home defence. That is their best chance of getting something from the game and it should lead to an open match. Therefore backing there to be 3 or more goals at 8/11 is surely where the value lies.
It also allows for the possibility that Valencia just prove far to strong and cruise to a very comfortable win, which can’t be ruled out given how much quality they possess.
They could do with a big win to settle in one or two of their newer players but there is something a little unconvincing about them right now so if you fancy a correct score bet consider opting for a 2-1 home win at 7/1.
