Verona vs Genoa Predictions
- Genoa are unbeaten in their last eight Serie A games, drawing seven of those.
- The last three head-to-head meetings between the teams have ended level.
- Genoa earned a 3-3 draw with Verona in September’s return fixture.
Irresistible force meets immovable object?
Monday night’s Serie A action throws up a clash between opposing styles in Verona. Igor Tudor’s hosts have been one of Serie A’s most watchable outfits this term, with their 30 league games containing a total of 102 goals. Genoa, on the other hand, have displayed remarkable defensive solidity since Alexander Blessin took the reigns as they look to escape the drop zone.
Since Blessin took charge, Genoa have not lost in eight league games, though seven of those contests have ended level. Incredibly, the relegation-battlers have kept six clean sheets in that time, with five of their last eight games ending goalless. Their solid form has them within three points of safety, and they claimed their first win in 27 league games when beating Torino last time out, a result which Blessin will hope can act as a turning point.
Verona, meanwhile, have been inconsistent, managing two wins, three draws, and two losses in their last seven games. Goals have been a feature of their recent clashes, with both teams netting in each of their last five contests, and over 2.5 goals being scored in eight of the last 11 matches to feature Tudor’s men, which makes their meeting with the miserly visitors a difficult contest to call.
Could resolute visitors snatch another result?
Given the contrasting styles of the two teams, punters are certainly advised to steer clear of the goals markets for Monday’s fixture, with the double chance market seemingly offering decent value. Indeed, although Verona have enjoyed a decent season, they have not been immune to the occasional slip up, and the odds-on price around the hosts looks a touch short.
With each of the last three head-to-head meetings ending level, we’re tipping Genoa for a result on the double chance market, while a 1-1 draw could be a decent correct score bet.
