Villarreal vs Sevilla Betting Tips

These two clubs have had the reverse of each other’s season. Villarreal started brilliantly, which was a bit of a surprise given how many changes took place over the summer to their playing staff, with 5 wins from their opening 6 in the league. However they’ve struggled a bit in recent weeks and have only taken 1 point from their last 3 fixtures to fall down to 5th.

By contrast Sevilla made a really poor start to the campaign but have just started to find their feet. Impressive home wins over Barcelona and the 5-0 rout of Getafe last time out have moved them up into the top half and you sense the momentum might be with them ahead of this game.

They also have an excellent recent record in this fixture. They met Villarreal 4 times last season and won every single one including both legs of their Europa League tie, which was around the same time as their 2-0 league success at El Madrigal.

With their form picking up they certainly look good value at 8/11 to at least avoid defeat in this clash.

Perhaps a win might be too much to ask for though and Unai Emery would probably be relatively content with a draw and no injuries given they have a huge Champions League clash with Manchester City to come on Tuesday.

Villarreal have looked better defensively this season and have only let in 7 goals so far but they’ve only scored 3 times in their last 5 league matches so we are unlikely to see an abundance of goals here. Therefore consider backing this to end in a 1-1 draw, which you can do at odds of 11/2.
