FC Porto to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Three of Porto’s four away league wins this season have been 1-0 or 2-0 and another such scoreline could be on the cards against a Vitoria Guimaraes team that has failed to score in three of their last five Primeira Liga matches. Fewer than three goals have been scored in six of the hosts’ nine home league games this season.

FC Porto 2-0

Reason for tip

Vitoria Guimaraes have not conceded more than two goals at home in any game this season and Porto, who have only scored more than twice on one occasion away from home,  are averaging 1.5 goals a game in their road games.

Vitoria Guimaraes vs FC Porto Predictions

  • Vitoria Guimaraes have failed to score in three of their last five Primeira Liga matches.
  • Three of Porto’s four away league wins this season have been 1-0 or 2-0.
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in six of Vitoria Guimaraes’ nine home league games this season.

Anderson absence hurts hosts’ scoring prospects

Vitoria Guimaraes are in poor form and, despite some positive noises about this age from within the camp, look set to be defeated once more by defending champions Porto.

Os Dragoes have won on their last four visits to Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques, each time by a single goal, and now appear to have picked up the scent of leaders Benfica in the title race.

The hosts are winless in seven and belief over a top-five finish is beginning to drain away as Casa Pia prove they can last the pace. Moreno’s side lost 2-1 to lowly Gil Vicente last week and had in-form striker Anderson Silva sent off, so he misses out this weekend because of a suspension.

Porto to prevail with the minimum of fuss

Os Conquistadores have failed to score in four of their last six matches and will probably struggle to trouble a Porto defence that has kept three clean sheets in their last six on the road.

A win to nil could be achieved here, but there are better odds available about Porto to win with fewer than three goals in the game. The Dragons have not scored more than two goals in seven of their eight away league contests this term.

A 2-0 scoreline seems to suit the teams’ current profiles pretty well given Vitoria Guimaraes have not shipped more than two goals at home in any game this season and Porto are averaging 1.5 goals a game in their road games.
