Walsall vs Oldham Predictions
Walsall had the luxury, or the inconvenience depending on how you look at it, of a rest during the week as their home fixture against relegation scrappers Chesterfield was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Oldham were in action on Tuesday night and continued to go well as they march away from the drop-zone after beating Northampton 2-1 away from home.
Oldham are a team who’re thriving at present, they’ve turned things around and are now unbeaten in five matches. Despite being good on home soil, Walsall could struggle against the defensive/counter-attacking nature of the visitors and, therefore, backing Oldham on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market makes plenty of sense.
Keeping teams out has become a bit of a speciality for Oldham this season, and even when they do concede it’s rarely more than once. In fact, the visitors have only conceded more than once in two of their last 13 league matches – they’ve also kept seven clean sheets in that time. Walsall may be a decent side going forward, but they could easily find Oldham’s deep-lying style hard to break down and are certainly susceptible to conceding on the counter.
The hosts may have scored plenty of goals at home in recent weeks, but they’ve also conceded their fair share and have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven at Bescot. Scoring goals is something Walsall have done well this season, but Oldham, as proven on several occasions, are very good at preventing teams from putting their best foot forward. With this in mind, given Walsall defensive frailties, Oldham could easily enjoy themselves on the break.
Oldham are in the midst of a good spell at the moment and can continue to go well here. At the prices, backing the visitors on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market is the best option. John Sheridan’s men really haven’t looked like getting beat in recent weeks.
