Watford vs Hull Predictions

Watford endured a rather difficult start to the season as they faced the likes of Southampton, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the opening weeks of the season. They only managed one point from these three fixtures and were eliminated from the League Cup as well, but since then things have been looking up.

Their incredible comeback in their 4-2 win at West Ham kickstarted their season and they followed it with a win over Manchester United. Their goalless draw at Swansea last weekend made it three wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last six outings, putting them 9th in the table.

Etienne Capoue has been one of the standout performers for the Hornets. The midfielder has netted four Premier League goals already this season and added an assist to that record. Two of these have come at Vicarage Road, whilst Troy Deeney has also bagged two home goals. Considering Capoue’s excellent form and the fact that Hull have struggled against long shots this season I’d say odds of 7/2 for Capoue to Score Anytime look very good value for money.

Unfortunately for Hull, their star player and top goalscorer has been ruled out for three weeks through injury. Robert Snodgrass has been a constant threat from both set pieces and open play, but they will have to try and break out of their awful form without him now. No other player in their squad has more than a single league goal to their name.

This lack of goals has resulted in a very poor run of form from the injury hit Hull. They have lost five Premier League matches on the bounce and haven’t won a league game since August. During this time they have managed to get a League Cup run going, which continued in midweek as defensive duo Harry Maguire and Michael Dawson scored in a 2-1 win at Bristol City, but in the league they have been a shambles.

In the last five game-weeks in the Premier League they have scored three times and conceded a huge 19 goals, including a 6-1 defeat at Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago. Watford have scored seven goals in their four Premier League games at home this season, and that includes matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Watford’s attack will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Hull. The visitors have seen Over 2.5 Goals in five of their last seven in all competitions and have the same record away from home, whilst Watford have been involved in high scoring games in all five of their home games this season. This, along with the tragically bad Hull defence, makes odds of 7/4 for a Watford Win and Over 2.5 Goals look really good value, and I’m also going for a 3-1 correct score prediction at 14/1.
