Watford vs Sheffield United Predictions

Saturday’s clash between Watford and Sheffield United at Vicarage Road is unlikely to produce many goals. There has been fewer than three goals in four of the last five Championship meetings between these sides, and under 2.5 goals is the bet.

Watford are 12th in the league, five places above Sheffield United, but they have just three points separating them. The hosts have won 14, drawn 15 and lost 13 of their games this season, while the visitors have 16 wins, six draws and 20 defeats.

Watford have recorded only one victory in their last seven games in the Championship and, while they have drawn their last two home matches, Sheffield United have won the last four head-to-heads between these sides.

Watford lost 2-0 to Oxford last weekend in their last Championship outing and the result kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. This was a disappointing result for Watford, who had been priced at 15/8 to win.

Under 2.5 goals has been a feature of Watford’s last few matches, with three of their last four Championship games ending with under 2.5 goals. It has been a winning bet in nine of their last 11 home games.

Sheffield United can edge this, with a 1-0 correct score in favour of the visitors looking like a decent bet. At least one of the teams did not score in four of the last five Championship meetings between these sides and Sheffield United have won the last four by the odd goal. Five of Watford’s 13 defeats this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline.
