Welling United vs Forest Green Rovers Predictions
Welling United avoided the drop from the Conference National on goal difference last season, eventually finishing the season in 20th position with 45 points from their 46 matches.
This season is going marginally better, with them currently sitting in 18th position with 22 points from their opening 19 league games.
This isn’t exactly a promotion winning tally of points, but their form recently has been very good.
They started the season with just one win in ten league matches, but since then they have lost just three times in 12 games in all competitions.
Their Conference form has seen them pick up 16 points from the last 27 available, but only four of the last 15.
Forest Green Rovers missed out on promotion last season after failing to triumph in the playoffs. This season they are hoping to avoid the playoffs all together.
They sit at the top of the Conference National with 38 points, but a loss on Tuesday could see both Cheltenham and Dover leapfrog them.
This is largely thanks to a nine match winning streak at the beginning of the season, because recently their form in the league hasn’t been at it’s best.
They have lost five of their last ten league games, winning three times and drawing twice. They will be hoping to return to their dominant ways sooner rather than later so they can maintain their lead in the Conference.
Welling United have only won one of their last five meetings with Forest Green Rovers, with the visitors taking all three points on both occasions last season.
Both sides are coming into this match on the back of FA Cup victories at the weekend, with Welling United overcoming Barwell and Forest Green beating Wimbledon away from home.
An away win over League Two opposition will have given the Forest Green Rovers’ players a massive boost in confidence, and along with their superior quality I think this will be enough for them to get another win on Tuesday. Odds of 3/4 for a Forest Green win look good value as well, so I’m backing this along with a 2-0 correct score at 15/2.
