West Bromwich Albion vs Sheffield United Predictions
- Both teams have scored in six consecutive West Brom games.
- Both teams have scored in four of Sheffield United’s last five away games.
- Blades have four wins in their last five.
Go for goals at both ends at the Hawthorns
West Brom host Sheffield United in a mid-table battle in the Championship on Friday night and we could be in line for an entertaining affair.
After an horrendous start to the season, the Blades have 10 points from the last 12 available and a surge towards the play-off spots isn’t out of the question. Albion are two points better off but they appear to be heading in the other direction with three defeats in their last five games.
The visitors are perhaps the more likely winners but the Baggies have been better at home and they’re unbeaten in six at the Hawthorns, so backing goals at both ends looks the better angle for our main bet.
There have been goals at both ends in six consecutive Albion games and they have scored themselves in 80% of their home games this season. Sheffield United are clean sheet specialists in south Yorkshire but have been vulnerable on their travels, conceding in five of their last six trips but scoring 12 goals themselves during that run.
The Baggies may be on a six-game unbeaten run at home but four of those games have come against sides below them in the table, and none have been against teams currently higher than 10th.
Blades can claim the spoils
Sheffield United saw a four-game winning streak ended with a 1-1 draw against Norwich on Tuesday but on the balance of play they were unlucky not to pick up all three points and they can get back to winning ways in the Midlands against an Albion side who have six defeats in their last 10. A 2-1 win for the visitors has a chance as United have scored more than once in four of their last five trips, while Albion haven’t conceded more than twice in any home game this season.
Callum O’Hare may be able to get on the scoresheet for the visitors. The midfielder has five goals in the league this season and was on target at Leicester in United’s last away game.
