Tip Reasoning

Molineux will be in party mood once again after Wolves wrapped up the Championship title last weekend with an easy win at Bolton. They can move onto 101 points here with victory and would become the first Championship side since Leicester four years ago to rack up a century of points.

If they can get anywhere near replicating Leicester’s subsequent success in the top flight, then there are exciting times ahead for the Wolves’ faithful and given the quality of some of their football this season, they look well equipped to flourish in the top flight. Money shouldn’t be an issue this summer so you’d expect them to further strengthen and they certainly have a few players who look made for the big stage.

Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile are gearing up for another season in the Championship and you’d expect them to be much stronger next term. It has been an injury-ravaged season and one to forget for Owls fans but there have been a few glimmers of hope in recent weeks and signs of perhaps better times ahead.

The Owls have won 5 of their last 7 matches to ease any lingering relegation concerns and they could end up with a comfortable mid-table position. Jos Luhukay is perhaps starting to win over the doubters but you don’t have to go too far back to find poor Wednesday displays, such as their 4-2 loss at QPR earlier in the month when they conceded three times in the opening fifteen minutes.

If they defend as poorly again here, they could really be made to pay and even if Wednesday are close to their best, they may struggle to stop a rampant Wolves side. Nuno’s men top just about every possible table in the Championship right now with the division’s best home and away records, best goalscoring record, best defensive record and they also top the form table for the last 8 games with an excellent 22 points.

The Owls are 4th in that table as it happens and they could ask a few questions here having netted 3 times themselves last weekend. However, Wolves boast more all-round quality and average an excellent 2.14 goals per home game this term. 59% of their league games at Molineux have produced over 2.5 goals in total and backing Wolves & Over 2.5 Goals could be the smart move here.

Backing Diogo Jota to score anytime also appeals. The Portuguese youngster has scored in 5 of his last 7 appearances.
