Wolves vs Birmingham Predictions

Birmingham make the short trip to Molineux with Premier League dreams still very much alive although they are what seems to be one of 4 teams competing for just 1 place in the end of season play-offs although they may regard 5th placed Derby as a side they could still catch. It has been a mixed few weeks for the Blues. 1-0 home wins over Bolton and Hull have kept them in the mix but defeats in their last two away games at QPR and Blackburn have held them back a bit. They could do with discovering some of that early season away form when they were excellent on the road.

Wolves could also be classed as being a bit inconsistent but certainly seemed to have improved a bit after a really poor run of results from mid-January onwards. They’ve won their last two home games both by 2-1 margins against Derby and Bristol City and were only narrowly beaten by the same margin away to high-flying Middlesbrough in between those games. They are back in the top half as a result but are still 8 points off Birmingham and 10 off the play-offs.

This is a role reversal of last season when Wolves were pushing for the play-offs and Birmingham were heading for a safe mid-table finish but there isn’t a huge amount to choose between the sides in all honesty. Wolves won at St Andrews earlier this season and are going for a league double over their only local rivals in this division although they may have to get used to local derbies with Aston Villa and perhaps Walsall likely to be joining them next season. With home advantage and under less pressure to perform they could get the better of the Blues again and you can back Wolves to win 2-0 at 9/1, which would give them a 3rd straight home victory.
