      Tip Reasoning

Despite being fancied by many to go down at the start of the campaign, Wycombe are looking to make it seven games unbeaten when they welcome Lincoln to Adams Park on Saturday afternoon. The visitors will be hoping for a second league win in quick succession.

Few people would’ve predicted that Wycombe would be unbeaten after six games, but they are and it’s hard to say that they don’t deserve to be. There’s been a few nervy moments; they’ve held onto their hats at times, while the Chairboys have required last-gasp goals to secure two of their three wins, though all-round, Gareth Ainsworth’s men have performed well.

In the final third, things have undoubtedly gone well. Wycombe come into match-day seven with ten goals to their name, while they’re averaging a pleasing 5.33 shots on target for, which is the second-best  in the division. They’ve not been amazing at the other at times, games against both Southend and MK Dons spring to mind, though a lack of defensive solidity is yet to prove costly.

As three wins from three games suggests, Wycombe have looked very useful on their own patch, which bodes well ahead of a game against Lincoln, who’re no mugs.

It’s also been a pleasing start to the campaign for Lincoln. Danny Cowley’s men, who won League Two last term, find themselves in a lofty 2nd position having won four of their opening six matches.

Over the summer, the Imps made several notable signings in the final third and such recruitment is now paying dividends, as Lincoln are the second highest scorers in the division with 12 goals. They’ve also done a good job of stopping teams from scoring, as they’ve kept four clean sheets and have conceded an average of only 0.67 goals.

However, for all they’ve defended well in general, Lincoln’s worse efforts have come on the road, where they’ve shipped 100% of their goals and have conceded an average of 1.58 expected goals.

From a betting point of view, ‘Both Teams to Score’ makes plenty of appeal. Both Wycombe and Lincoln are among the highest scorers in the division, while both rank highly in terms of shots on target too. Add in the fact that they’ve kept just one clean sheet between them in their six combined home and away games, not to mention the fact that they’ve scored in 100% of those games, and the chances of both registering appear to be slightly greater than the current odds would have us believe.

‘Correct Score’ players are pointed in the direction of a 2-2 draw. Wycombe have offered plenty going forward at home but have also struggled to keep teams at bay. Since much of the same can be said for the visitors, a high-scoring stalemate appeals at the prices.
